Desert or Island? That is the question…

After exploring the glam life of tennis players in the last post (players’ party pics and all), let’s take a look at the hardship they have to go through. The prestigious tournament in the desert, Indian Wells, has been renamed Indian UnWells due to a stomach bug taking out several players including Vera Zvonareva, Vania King, Francesca Schiavone and Daniela Hantuchova. You might think it was a good decision for Anastasia Rodionova to go to the Bahamas and play a smaller event there? Wrong. The Aussie player can tell a thing or two about the mortal coils that is the tennis life… or three or four, which she did on her Twitter account @arodionova.

After travelling all night when I got to Bahamas I found out that I’m not in the tournament! Shocking! Gotta love ITF rules!

Meaning. No. She hates them rules – after learning them. Honestly, I don’t have a clue what exactly went wrong so I can’t explain the rules to you, but then again I’m not on the Bahamas to get enlightened. Light. Another keyword.

wow! tournament in Bahamas surprises me more and more everyday. today lights went off on the court on our matchpoint!

Apparently Rodionova was allowed to play doubles after all.

I’m going to the beach! since I’m already on Bahamas I might as well enjoy myself

Good girl! But unfortunately there was no end to Anastasia’s travail.

Transportation turns up at least 15 min late everyday.. And I’ve been told that 15 min late is actually “on time” in Bahamas… Wow!

Is this the first time Rodionova plays the Bahamas? It’s going to be a once in a lifetime experience. Right? Right.

life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you gonna get

This is the reason, why tennis players should stay away from sweets… unless your name is Maria Sugarpova…

  1. Great post.

With all this IW stuff going on it’s easy to forget that there are other tournaments happening too.

After virus-gate, let’s move the IW fixture to the Bahamas next year.
